Carburettor Balancing
After renovation of my GL1000LTD the carburettors had to be balanced, to make the engine run smooth. I had no fancy apparatus to this job so I decided to build my own, here is a few pictures of the effort, it works just perfect.
The restrictor is a piece of plastic tube with a 0,2 mm hole, heat the end of the tube put in a filament from an electric wire, roll/squeeze the warm end of the tube with your fingertips, when cold pull out the filament and the tiny hole is there it stabilizes the needle.
With the hoses connected you switch from one to the other cylinder and make your adjustment according to the needle raising or falling, when the needle does not raise or fall when switching cylinders, balance is just perfect. The hose connector is an 5 mm pan head screw with a 2 mm hole drilled lengthwise and a piece of 3/16 brake line soldered into a 2mm deep recess
